Full Day Camp 10am-4pm Gender - Female and Male Levels - Beginner to elite (players will be grouped by skill and experience level) Offered at Brandeis, Waltham, MA (July 20-24 and July 27-31)and Rockingham Athletic Club, Plaistow, NH (Aug 3-7)
This camp session will provide players with a combination of training sessions: general skill, position and team-like competition. In the past 4 years at Brandeis, we offered these three sessions separately, but after positive reviews at the RAC in 2008, Masspike will offer this 10am-4pm session at both Brandeis, in Waltham, MA and the RAC in Plaistow NH.
For those with experience, we will place players on court by experience and skill, and provide general skill training in the morning, covering these basic skills throughout the week: serving, forearm and overhead passing and digging, hitting, setting and blocking. Some mornings, campers will focus on a skill of their choice for 45 minutes - to get extra help or to practice more advanced techniques.
After a lunch break, we will break up groups by position; hitting, setting/back row to start. If we have enough middles, we will divide the hitting group further. The setters and back row players will often work together but will get enough time separately to work on their individual position needs. We will work on basic skill requirement for each position the first 2 days, advancing more rapidly for more experience players, delving into more advanced technique and game like tactics.
We will break into position groups starting on Tuesday. Following position training, at the end of the session, players will go back to their morning courts and work on 6 person offense, defense, and transition, using the skill and knowledge gained during the position training session. As the week, progresses, we will spend more time on team like drills, and add session ending competitions.
